Map of Evers and Rambow Origins

The map below shows a large area of modern day northeastern Germany. The town names and dots of Weselsdorf / Muchow (Green dots) and Goslar (red dot) have been enlarged for easier viewing. Johann Georg Evers and his wife Johanna Stoffregen were from Goslar, Kingdom of Hannover. Johann Georg Evers was a master shoemaker there and probably married there around 1800.

Their son, Johann Peter Christoph Evers was born in Goslar in 1804 and came to Weselsdorf where he married Sophia Maria Dorothea Wiede in 1835. Dorothea was born in Neustadt in 1810. J.P.Christoph Evers was first listed as a cobbler on his marriage record, then later "büdner" (cottager.) All their children were born there, and it is from Weselsdorf where their son Johann Albrecht Friedrich Wilhelm Evers (b. 1840) and his wife (Luise Kundt b. 1856, Schwerin, dau. of Maria E. D. Kundt) & child left Germany from the port of Hamburg in 1874 and came to America. Dorothea Wiede's parents, Johann Friedrich Daniel Wiede & Catharina Susanna Rösch were living in Neustadt at the time of their daughter's marriage.

These Rambows were from Muchow as far back as the 1600's, maybe more. Jochim Christian Rambow was was born there probably in the late 1700's and married Catharina Elisabeth Korup there in 1807. (See marriage record) The Korup family had been in Muchow for at least 3 generations as well. Almost every Rambow from Muchow were "haüswirts" or landlords. All their children were born there, including their son, Johann Christian Friedrich Rambow in 1807 (see birth record). He married Catharina Maria Magdalena Gercke in Muchow in 1830 (see marriage record). All their children were born there, including their son Johann Christian Hans Rambow in 1832 (see birth record & marriage record). He married Maria Elisabeth Dorothea Kundt there in 1866. (Her daughter, Luise Kundt married Johann A. Evers in Muchow in 1871.) In 1867 on the census in Muchow, Johann Christian Hans Rambow was an "einlieger" (free agricultural laborer) in Muchow. In 1874, he and his wife and their children left Germany from the port of Hamburg in 1874 and came to America.

Around the time the Evers were in Goslar, it was part of the Kingdom of Hannover. Now, Hannover is a city and both are in present day Niedrsachsen as seen below.

The village names of Weslesdorf & Muchow and all the red dots are represented larger for better viewing. Originally, all were the same size as the surrounding villages.

Maria E. D. Kundt, the wife of Johann Christian Hans Rambow, was born in Muchow in 1835. . Her parents Ludwig Wilhelm Christian Daniel Kundt & Hanna Eleonora Niemann married there in 1835. Ludwig was master blacksmith in Muchow at the time of his daughter's birth. Hanna Niemann's father, Jochim Niemann was a haüswirt in Muchow at the time of Hanna's marriage.
(See all Kundt family records)
Ludwig Kundt was born in 1793 in Möllenbeck, southeast of Muchow. Ludwig's father, Samuel Kundt, was a master blacksmith in Möllenbeck at the time of Ludwig's marriage.

Catharina Gercke, wife of J. C. Friedrich Rambow, was born in Ziegendorf in 1810, abt 4 miles east of Möllenbeck. Her parents, Johann Jochim Gercke (b.1785) and Johanna Brencke (b.1793) were also born in Ziegendorf and married there in 1809.

Johann Jochim Gercke's parents, Johann Jochim Gercke & Catharina Maria Rabe, probably married there in Ziegendorf around 1784. Johanna Brencke's parents, Johann Georg Brencke and Maria Christina Elisabeth Brencke (that is her maiden name) probably married there in the early 1790's. Johann Georg Brencke's occupation was listed as "der Schulz" on his daughter's birth record and "der Amts. Shulz" on her marriage record, which was the mayor or magistrate, the or the head of the local village government in Ziegendorf. (See all Gercke family records)
