Honor Guard
Lieutenant David Snively

    The Powder Springs Police Explorer Honor Guard was formed in August of 2003.  Although the team is still in its beginning phases, it will soon be an important part of the Explorer Unit.  The highly trained and skilled Honor Guard will display their excellence and precision for parades, special city events, Mayoral speeches, and more.  
    
    The Honor Guard is led by Lieutenant David Snively.  Lieutenant Snively has been with the Powder Springs Police Explorers for nearly a year and a half, dedicating in excess of five-hundred hours to the post and the City of Powder Springs. He has earned four commendations for Community Service, Law Enforcement Service, Tenure, and Crime Prevention. In addition, he has recieved a S.A.V.E. Award for assisting an unconcious female and has been nominated for a second award pertaining to Crime Prevention. Lieutenant Snively has studied the techniques and fundamentals of marching with the legendary Blue Devils Marching Band, the Cavaliers Marching Team, and many others.  He also served with the Boy Scout Troop 1294 Honor Guard.

    The Members of the Honor Guard Unit are:

    The Honor Guard Unit are normal members of the post who dedicate additional time to training and practice.  The team wears special uniforms consisting of a Silver-Tan Long Sleeved Dress Shirt.  Their pants are solid black.  Honor Guard members also wear patent leather, high gloss shoes and a patent leather, high gloss belt.  They display a black, eight-point cap on their heads.  Honor guard members also wear white dress gloves.  As special recognition, they wear a black cord around the left shoulder of their dress uniform, identifying them as Honor Guard members.  They also display a special ribbon on their duty uniforms which has the words Honor Guard on it.
