Ron and I lived aboard our boat for many years. Ron and his brother, Al, and myself were in a band and played up and down the West Coast of Florida between Sarasota and Boca Grande. After Al went back to Canada, we moved the boat back down to Boca Grande permanently where Ron had his own bait business. He supplied baby blue crabs to the Tarpon fishing guides of the island. We used solar panels for electricity and carried 200 gallons of fresh water onboard. Our boat was a 32' Chris Craft Commander that was modified as a liveaboard. When we ventured up the Peace River to stay periodically, Ron and Kris ran trot lines to catch catfish. My parents lived aboard their boat on the river. Dad was a wildlife guide and mom was an artist. They supplemented their income by running catfish lines and were the ones who taught Ron and Kris.

Below are three of the boats that my parents lived on over their 25 to 30 years living onboard.

This boat was built by dad for livingaboard in the shallow part of the Peace River in SW Florida

This boat was a steel life boat that mom and dad plunked a camper into. It was rigged with a square sail. They could pull that camper out and put it back on their truck for land adventures.

This is a picture of our kitten, Zeke, our parakeet, Chauncey, and our rabbit, Daisy. Chauncy was pecking at Daisy's foot. They lived onboard with us.

This is Ron and Al with a shark they caught in Eldred's Marina. Red Tide had forced the sharks into the marina, where, they were about to attack our Irish Setter who was swimming with a bleeding foot. Jim Dixon saved the dog by shooting the shark. That's when all hell broke loose. Sharks went into a frenzy. It was quite the day.

This is mom burying a turkey in an old oil drum. Large ovens weren't common on boats, so, when we had a big get together at Christmas, we would go to shore. This was the best turkey I have ever tasted.
