We lived aboard our Chris Craft Commander for thirteen years on the west coast of Florida near a small island called Boca Grande. This was the area that was ground zero in Hurricane Charlie. As of October 2005, many people are still displaced and living in FEMA trailers. Please don't forget our Florida friends who are still without homes, businesses, work and schools.
When we were homeschooling our son, we had to hide out up the Peace River. Homeschooling was illegal and, if they found us, they threatened to put us in jail. Ahhh...those were the days. For more nautical photos, go here.

Kris was schooled for four hours a day and spent the rest of his time prowling along the river banks, the tidal flats, fishing, hunting and just being a boy. Kris' grandparents lived just around the bend on their boat. They lived aboard for over 20 years and knew the river like no one else. Kris' grandfather was a wildlife guide and lecturer and his grandmother was a wildlife artist who sold her paintings and notecards on Boca Grande and the surrounding area. Kris absorbed a great deal of wisdom from them and it shows in the type of man he is today. And, he turned out to be quite the character as you can see by his license to the right.
