COURSES OFFERED

Sawyer's Sailing School is an ASA certified school in its 16th year of operation. Captain Bob is in his 50th year of sailing. We sail out of the Dolphin Marina in Harpswell, ME. From there one can turn to port for ocean sailing or to starboard for sailing among the 365 Calendar Islands of beautiful Casco Bay.

BASIC KEELBOAT COURSE (101)
This is a two-day course which involves hands-on sailing and an exam for a certification recognized by ASA schools throughout the country. It will prepare you for sailing day sailors up to 20 feet in length. MORE INFO
NOTE: This course also allows you to meet the NASBLA requirenents for state exams and makes you eligible to apply for membership in the United States Sail & Power Squadrons. (A boating organization dedicated to boating education.)

BASIC COASTAL CRUISING (103) -This two day course requires the above course as a prerequisite. It will prepare you for sailing an auxiliary powered sailboat up to 32 feet in length. MORE INFO

BAREBOAT CHARTERING COURSE (104) This is a two day and one night live-aboard course with the above two courses as prerequisites. It earns you a Certification for Bareboat Chartering recognized by many chartering companies affiliated with the ASA and others. MORE INFO

INSTRUCTION ON YOUR BOAT- If your boat is 24 feet or longer, this course provides you instruction as requested. You decide what you want taught and how many days you desire. The cost is $200 per day which can include up to three people.

COASTAL NAVIGATION COURSE -105 - This is 12 week classroom course held 2 hours per week during the winter. It prepares one for sailing the fog bound, rocky coast of Maine. The cost is $150 with an additional $30 for ASA Certification.
E-MAIL COASTAL NAVIGATION COURSE -105 - This is the same course as the above conducted by e-mail. Captain Bob tutors the student by e-mail as necessary at the student's own pace. The cost is $75 with an additional $30 for ASA Certification. (Click HERE for course Questions & Answers.)
