First Crew
THE SPECTACULAR ADVENTURES OF THE FIRST CREW
Chapter the First

Once upon a time, long, long ago, in an auditorium far, far away, there were 6 fearless teenagers. Their illustrious names that shall go down in history were Mustang, Jag, Shorty, Piano, Rock Star, and T. And so begins the saga.

The 6, herein known as the First Crew, roamed the backstage of the most revered auditorium in Drama Land. They dressed all in black, with an occasional glint of silvery duct tape being the only indication of their regal presence. They had many grand adventures in their first year ruling the backstage together. As all their talents combined to form a great presence felt throughout The House, they grew in skill.
They could open and close a curtain at lightning speed with one hand, while talking to a frustrated stage manager via a walkie talkie in the other hand. They learned how to walk, talk, and breathe silently. They could walk around backstage silently, move sets, and avoid collisions with anyone or anything even while running. In the dark. With no worklights.
They overcame great obstacles such as bad sound systems, inept props people, awkward flats, 12 foot staircases, and temperamental actors. Thus the 6 became fast friends, joined together by the heraldic symbol of duct tape. They were revered by the audience, admired by the actors, and loved by the Royal Drama Teachers, and the land flourished from their greatness. But this would soon be jeopardized.

     The freshmen came.

The freshmen minions invaded the stage under the leadership of  the wicked Queen Lucy. They did it stealthily, while the noble First Crew were off on grand crusades such as winning great tournaments, setting precedents, and saving struggling agricultural kingdoms. And chaos ruled The House.
The freshman crew fumbled and faltered all over the stage, but were driven on by the insane cackling of their evil leader, and continued on putting props in the wrong place, not taping with the correct colors, and rendering the props room a disaster area.     Once the noble First Crew was rested from their charitable activities, they swept in grand form upon the stage, saved the one Royal Drama Teacher that had not been exiled, and, with the help of the Stage Manager, banished the sniveling freshmen to One Act Land, under the provisions that they should not so much as breathe on any set but that of the freshmen, under penalty of being strung from the light booms with duct tape. By their feet.
But there was yet work for the courageous 6. The despicable Queen Lucy, undaunted by the loss of her minions, focused her evil powers upon the stage. She dared raise her voice to Jag and T, about their positions in the wings. She did not do it while the entire First Crew was present, for even she had fear in her heart of stone of these noble teenagers.
The sounds of her evil cackling resonated from the sound booth to the walls, the ceiling, the catwalk, even unto the stage, but could not reach the purity of the backstage. In truth, the entire House might have been corrupted by this cacophony of cackling and echoes, had it not been for the goodness of the First Crew, whose pure hearts guarded it. But no sooner had they begun to establish themselves again as the great influence they once were, when they suffered a great blow.
As they were testing their radios, wiping up a Diet Coke spill, and working the curtain, an evil spy of the Faculty Kingdom saw the good T assisting the Royal Drama Teacher and an actor in putting up signs. She recognized T as being on the Forbidden List and suddenly confronted the good Royal Drama Teacher, threatening to report them to the Supreme Leader of Faculty Kingdom if T did not leave immediately.
Realizing she must leave, T reported the shocking news to her noble fellow First Crew, who rallied behind her as friends should, and together they cursed the evil spy and the wicked Geometry Sorceress who had put T on the Forbidden List.
After gathering her things and saying farewell to Mustang, Jag, Shorty, Rock Star, and Piano, and with Shorty and Jag's promise to save her a Royal Uniform of the Crew, she left Drama Land. The 5 remaining noble First Crew returned to their places, guarding the stage, protecting The House, and assisting the actors, with that time honored saying emblazoned upon their minds..."The Show Must Go On".

    But all was not lost.

The Forbidden List would be destroyed in but two fortnights and a half. T would be able to resume her rightful place in the ranks of the First Crew. But...will the evil Queen Lucy sabotage the production? Will someone knock themselves out on a light? Will the Sound Crew be able to prevent any mishaps...again? Will the walkie-talkies stay on the same channel? And, if the production goes on unfettered...will it be a success? All we can do is believe in the First Crew, while they steadfastly carry on their noble business with T there to assist them if in spirit only, and wait to see what happens...for only time will tell!!!

FARE THEE WELL, MY FRIENDS, AND RALLY BEHIND THE FIRST CREW!
