Tom Roddey
is a Northwest native, born in Ketchikan Alaska and raised in Bellingham Washington.
Involved with music since childhood, Tom became an accomplished trumpet player
through his high school years. He graduated from High school and immediately
went into the Navy.
Serving on Nuclear Submarines was a rewarding vocation, but Tom had a constant desire to express himself musically. He was introduced to the Guitar and discovered he could sing while cruising four hundred feet underwater. Tom began collecting the kinds of music that he most enjoyed playing, amassing a collection of over four hundred songs. He reached a turning point when he moved back to Washington for his last tour in the Navy, in the summer of 1991.
He found some players, and started working on improving his craft. In the process, he put together a Blue-grass combo, then country bands "Fog Alley and "Charlie Horse.
His vocal style worked well with the country, folk and classic rock sounds, and he soon found work for his band at local fraternal organizations and honky-tonks. With his new band "Hired Guns", he plays regional casinos, festivals, fairs and other special events all over the Pacific Northwest area.
Tom finished his Navy tour in November 1996, then enrolled in the Art Institute of Seattle's Audio & Video Production school. He graduated in June, 1998 with honors and now devotes his full attention to performing at solo engagements, in duets, and with his band.
Tom was approached from several directions to perform as a single. Already an accomplished finger-pick and rhythm guitarist, Tom has added guitar soloist to his repertoire so he can provide a complete "live instrument" to his vocals. He performs regularly in a MIDI format, with a full orchestra sound, or any type of band style / arrangement needed to back up the song.
Tom has a captivating vocal presence, and has been impressing audiences now for over ten years. His style is true to the original artist, with a fresh presentation in classic rock, country, easy listening, contemporary, folk, children's, blues, gospel, and original works.
