ABOUT THE CENTER FOR CHARACTER ANIMATION
Founded By Character Animator Brian Mitchell in June of 1995,
The Center For Character Animation opened its' doors in Levittown, NY offering a total of 11 classes in Cartooning and Cartoon Animation.
CFCA added Private Instruction and was in the process of developing a unique 12 week concentrated animation course for four days each week.
Once the only school in New York specializing in traditional cartoon animation techniques (2D), some of CFCA's former students are now working in the animation industry either in 2D or 3D animation studios. Alumni have held creative positions with Disney, Warner Bros., Film Roman, MTV, Nickelodeon, Funny Bone Interactive, etc.
CFCA has been featured in various news stories in The New York Times, The Daily News, Newsday, Long Island Lifestyles and Nightlife magazine.
In the television world, CFCA has been featured on ABC's Eyewitness News, Channel 55 news and Cablevisions' News 12 Long Island.
For almost eight years, hundreds of people learned about and dabbled in
the magic of cartoon animation.
Unfortunately, due to low enrollment and years of struggling to turn a profit, The Center For Character Animation closed its' doors as of February 2003.
