CONFINED SPACE SAFETY PROGRAMS
THE REGULATIONS REQUIRE:
1> Employers to inform employees of the existence of confined spaces in the workplace and to develop a written program for entry into confined spaces when employees enter these areas,2> Employers to implement measures to prevent unauthorized entry into confined spaces, and
3> Employers to provide confined space safety training to employees entering confined spaces.
HOW IS A CONFINED SPACE DEFINED?
Under OSHA's regulations, a confined space is any space which meets the following three criteria:
* Is large enough and so configured so as to allow for bodily entry,
* Has limited or restricted means for entry or exit, and
* Is not designed for continuous worker occupancy.
