ATTEND UNION MEETINGS
MEETINGS are held on the third Tuesday of the month at the union hall, 7:00 PM.
Organizing Committee meetings held after every union meeting. Come on down, see what this organizing is all about. Right now, the council has assigned 3 organizers to work in the Richmond area. Local 388 is taking advantage of this, with volunteer organizers attending meetings and helping with organizing activities. Work is pretty good, considering the weather and the economy. We are welcoming new members, attendance is up slightly at union meetings.
Right now we have all of the Va district organizers working in Richmond. We are involved in an AREA STANDARDS campaign, part of the Brotherhood's plan being implemented in about 15 cities nationwide. We will be bannering outside jobsites, informing the public about users that are hiring contractors that missclassify workers or simply don't pay area standards, set by the State of Virginia, to it's carpenters or affiliated craftworkers.
