Vermont Bicycle Road Rides
Welcome to VermontRides. THIS PAGE CAN LOAD EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOWLY ON A DIAL-UP CONNECTION. SORRY!
This will be the place to look for maps and route directions to Bicycle Road Rides in Southern Vermont, Eastern Upstate New York, and possibly a few in Northern Mass. and Western New Hampshire. Compared to Florida all of the rides are "hilly", and many of the rides have an average in excess of 100 feet of elevation gain per mile. The Intensity Rating(IR) is the average elevation gain in feet per mile. A strong road rider can manage all of the roads in a 39 x 23, but the sections of 10 to 20% grade sprinkled about are much faster (and more pleasant) done in a lower gear.
How to View Maps
The routes are in .gif format which means that even though you can't see much detail on the webpage you can see all the detail by (right clicking) saving (or copying) each on your computer and opening them in a viewer (e.g. Paint, ACDSee,PhotoShop,or inserting into a Word Document and enlarging).  Coming sometime "soon" PDF's to make printing really easy!

NOTE
I'm happy to help with requests for custom maps/suggestions for your ride pleasure. Just be aware that there are several fine books out there with routes and descriptions and they use just about all the paved flatish roads there are in Vermont. So, if you are looking for paved and flat and it's not on this page try some of the ride books.
