Pigeon Stories and Jokes
A Millionaire Joke

Did you hear about the man who became a millionaire with one homing pigeon?

He sold it for a dollar and it kept coming home a million times!

Odysseus:  A True Story

An an acquaintance gave me a homing pigeon
with bad manners.  As a young pigeon, it
refused to go into its aviary like most pigeons
do.  It slept in my backyard and left messy
droppings everywhere.  So I trapped the bird
while it slept and decided to take him for a ride
as far away as possible.  I drove from
Sacramento to Santa Rosa, California, about
100 miles away.  The next day Odysseus was
home!

Odysseus is now my favorite pigeon
and has fathered all the pigeons in my loft!
And by the way, he now sleeps in his aviary
every night!  And no more messy droppings around the yard!

An Old Man in the Philippines

An old man in the Philippines raised thousands of homing pigeons on the roof of his house.  At feeding time, thousands of white pigeons covered the ground.

When he died, his family continued to feed the pigeons.  Slowly but surely the pigeons left in groups until they were all gone.  Could it be that the man and his pigeons had a special bond that ended when he died?

A Native American Bird Story

One cold winter, a blue jay landed on Corol's shoulder and made himself at home.  Carol welcome this visitor with seeds and water.  After a few weeks, the bird regained its strength and flew away--never to be seen again. . . .
