Sepp-Lok Seppalas are multifunctional, diverse, and well driven from within to perform. These dogs are unique, with dignified, calm demeanors, almost cat-like in their ways. Capable of easily running a 3-minute mile. they keep pace with Alaskan Huskies and work well in mixed teams.

Getting your first Siberian? Consider that the dog is not just about it's looks, not just about it's pedigree, there is so much more. A breeder should look at it all, the performance record of the dogs they breed, their goals for the puppies, have the parents not just proven themselves at home but have they proven themselves against the dogs of other top breeders? If not, why were they bred? A breeder can not know that their dogs are of any quality without a standard outside the home to compare them with. That's called "Kennel Blindness" and it's a common problem, a breeder  that refuses to test their dogs against outside competition in any venue, has no way to know if their dogs are as good as even the lowest placing dogs that are competing. It matters, substance is about more than papers, more than type, it's deep inside the dog that reflects the heart and soul of it's breeder and all the dogs that have come before it. The Seppala is an embodiment of history and it should be able to do what it has always done. Reguardless of breeding, percentages or kennel names on registration papers, if it can't pull a sled competitively in open competition, it is NOT a real Seppala, and no dog that hasn't run in a race, can claim to be of higher quality or better breeding than those that have, no matter how pretty they are or how much they love their owners or how much they physically resemble dogs of the past. That is our STRONG and firm belief, the basis of what we work from. Run Hard, Run Fast, Run Far.

It's not about how pretty you are when a child stumbles out of a crowd to pet a sleddog. Temperament matters. The Seppala Siberian has an uncanny ability to work and think clearly under pressure, a natural understanding about children and a tolerance for them that is exceptional. They tolerate mistakes too, which makes this breed truly ideal for beginners wanting to get involved in sleddog sports. These aren't wild screaming hyper dogs, these are thoughtful, driven, sound athletes.  Sepp-Lok Seppalas are all about the heart of the dog.
A Magnificent 9 week old Seppala puppy doing what Seppalas love most. We are working toward better flexion and reach in stride in our Seppalas, we have found many can not reach as well as their Alaskan competitors. At the longest point of stride their shoulders don't allow for their elbows to reach ahead of their chests, in their rear end, their flexion also lacks what we consider optimum reach. A flexible long stride with elastic mobility is a must for a breed created to run. Sepp-Lok Seppalas reach for the future in many ways!
